The death toll of a tsunami that struck Indonesia’s Sunda Strait has exceeded 280. The nearby coast was hit by the huge wave without warning during the night on Saturday, December 22. The disaster happened after an eruption of the nearby Anak Krakatoa volcano, which is thought to have triggered undersea landslides. Aid agencies are evacuating more than 800 people who were injured and providing shelter to those displaced. Experts warn that more giant waves are highly possible.
