Firefighters were forced to swim through flood waters to rescue four girls who were trapped inside a flooded house in coastal city Da Nang, Vietnam on December 9.

They managed to safely rescue the girls who were unharmed by their ordeal.

The area was swamped after heavy rainfall caused floods across the area, leaving at least 14 people dead and thousands more displaced.

Towns across central Vietnam began reporting rapid flooding beginning on Saturday as the region was hit by an unseasonal monsoon.

Floods put much of the port city of Da Nang underwater earlier this week after 635mm of rain fell in a 24-hour period between Saturday and Sunday. Authorities in the country's fourth largest city reported 2550 houses were underwater on Monday at the peak of the floods.
