Flooded road in Taiwan after the country is hit by floods

Major streets are flooded in Kaohsiung, Taiwan submerging parked vehicles on August 23. Six people have been killed in a tropical depression that dropped close to 1,000 milimetres of rain in central and southern Taiwan, media reported. Local television footage showed scooters and cars half-submerged in waters and roads blocked by landslides. More than 6,000 people were evacuated from their homes. Although the depression has moved away from Taiwan, floods have yet to recede in many areas, and weather authorities warn of more rain to come in the week.
