How to soothe your child before going back to school

1. Plan ahead
Prepare two schedules: one the week before going back to school and the other for back to school week. Try to stick to the plan, the predictability will help your child feel more confident.
2. The sleep routine
Your kid will feel rested and will be less submerged by stress and other scary emotions.
3. Buy a special something
Get a new backpack, a new paire of shoes or school supplies. Let your child choose, it will make it more special for him.
4. Practice goodbyes
At least everyone will know what to expect, you included!
5. Go scene scouting
Your child will know where to go, without panicking and will feel safer in an environment that he knows.
6. Use books
Reading stories together about going back to school can help ease the stress.
