National Assembly holds interpellation session on social, education issues
  • 6 years ago
The National Assembly is holding its final interpellation session today,... this time with the focus on education, social issues and culture.
Rival parties clashed as one of the ministers fielding questions is the newly-appointed education minister and deputy prime minister Yoo Eun-hae,... a lawmaker of the ruling Democratic Party.
Her appointment came despite the assembly failing to adopt a confirmation hearing report,... with the conservative opposition calling her unfit for the job due to a series of alleged ethical lapses... and lack of expertise.
Opposition lawmakers demanded that she step down,... while the ruling party defended her, saying that her expertise was proven given her experience as a member of the parliament's education committee.
Other issues that were brought up include the low birth rate,... as well as changes to the college admission system.
