Palu residents stare at still-smoking ruins morning after magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Indonesia

Residents of the Indonesian city of Palu survey the destruction caused by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck off the coast of Sulawesi on September 28.

Footage filmed the morning after the tremor shows cracks along the ground and flattened homes as far as the eye can see.

The filmer, known as Sofyan, says in the clip: "This is the situation here. Everything is flat on the ground."

Official figures from Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) increased the death toll from 844 to 1,234 following the earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
