Typhoon Trami slams Tokyo overnight

Typhoon Trami swept through parts of Japan over the weekend, making landfall in Wakayama Prefecture on September 30 and hitting Tokyo overnight.

This video, filmed in the Japanese capital, shows strong winds rustling through the leaves of the trees outside an apartment block in Segataya.

Trami left two dead after one was engulfed by a landslide in western Japan’s Tottori and the other drowned in high waters in Yamanashi, west of Tokyo. Over a hundred have been injured, and tens of thousands evacuated ahead of the storm.

For the first time ever, East Japan Railway Co., which operates major rail lines in the Japanese capital, suspended all train services in the Tokyo area that evening in preparation for Typhoon Trami. Operations were resumed Monday morning.
