Virginia Farm and Wedding Venue Lock Horns in Dispute Over Noise

A wedding venue and an adjacent farm in Virginia are accusing each other of being noisy neighbors in a dispute that has litigation pending, according to Virginia First.Kidd Carter, who told local press he regularly deejays at the venue, posted a video on September 17, showing the use of a loud weed trimmer by a worker at the Catawba Equestrian Center, just yards from where a wedding ceremony was taking place.“Every time I do a wedding at Triple J Farms, the owners of Catawba Equestrian Center make as much noise as they can to ruin weddings to try and put Triple J out of business,” wrote Carter.Catawba Equestrian Center, though, had its own noise problems, according to its response on Facebook. It said: “The walls inside of neighbors’ homes reverberate from the pounding of the music up until 10 pm. Triple J has ignored their pleas as well as ours.” The center added: “We have a constitutional right to farm our property as well as a statutory right to farm.”Deborah Caldwell-Bono, described as the owner of the equestrian center, told Virginia First, that, “unfortunately” for the wedding venue, “Saturday afternoon is when they have chosen to have these events right where we do the majority of our work most of the time.
