The potentially deadly creatures have also been known to hide beneath piles of debris and swim through the waters in flooded areas. It is being advised that, if possible, people avoid wading through the waters, notes the New York Post. Those who do get bitten should seek medical attention immediately. Other creatures to be on the lookout for are alligators and fire ants, both of which have been found inside flooded houses after extreme weather events.
