남북, 군사실무회담 오늘 개최… "포괄적 군사 합의문" 구체화 할 듯

Another round of inter-Korean summit, coming up next week.
Helping to set the tone for that hotly anticipated event is the working-level military talks between the two sides.
Officials are expected to further discuss easing tensions along the border.
We start things off by going straight to our defense ministry correspondent Kan Hyeong-woo.
Hyeong-woo the colonels sat down for talks fairly early today.

Yes Daniel, the working-level military talks started at 10 AM this morning... at the Tongil-gak building on the North Korean side of Panmunjom.
Following up on the progress made during the general-level talks in July,... the two sides are expected to discuss specific and detailed measures to implement the disarmament of the Joint Security Area in the Demilitarized Zone,... the joint recovery of war remains in the DMZ... and the withdrawal of troops from guard posts on a trial basis.

Pyeongyang first suggested today's meeting, which Seoul later accepted.
South Korea's three-member delegation is led by Army Colonel Cho Yong-guen... while the North's side is led by Colonel Om Chang-nam

The results of today's talks are likely to be included in the anticipated military agreement,... which is expected to be officially signed by President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at the upcoming inter-Korean summit next week.

During the general-level talks in July, the two sides reached a mutual understanding and made agreements in principle aimed at building trust and reducing tensions along the Military Demarcation Line.
We will give you more details at our later newscast.
Daniel.
