Typhoon Soulik leaves Korean peninsula, heads into East Sea
  • 6 years ago
We start with Typhoon Soulik... which has finally completed its path across the country.
The typhoon first landed in Jeollanam-do Province in Korea's southwest,... then crossed Chungcheongbuk-do Province and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province,... and moved into the East Sea from Gangwon-do Province.
And reporting live for us in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do Province is our reporter Choi Si-young.
Si-young, it seems the worst has passed,... but how's the weather down there?

Well, Jiyoon.
As you can see, it has stopped raining and the wind is relatively calm.
A typhoon advisory that had been effect has also been lifted in Cheongju.
But a typhoon advisory is STILL in effect in other four cities in the province.

As well as that,... all schools are shut for the day in Chungcheongbuk-do Province.
In nearby Chungcheongnam-do Province, about 90 schools are closed for the day,... and middle and high school students went to school later than usual.
In the city of Sejong, all school students have the day off as well.

The typhoon actually left South Korean shores earlier than forecast, but the nation's weather agency recommends people living on the east coast to remain watchful as the area remains under the typhoon's indirect effect.

That's all I have now. Back to you, Jiyoon.
