Expert's take on Pyongyang summit announcement

Let's get an expert's take on the news that the two Koreas have agreed to hold the third Moon-Kim summit in September in Pyongyang.
I'm delighted to say we have Aidan Foster-Carter joining us on Skype to share with us his insights.
Mr. Foster-Carter is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Sociology and Modern Korea at Leeds University in the UK... and a full-time Korea analyst and consultant for more than 20 years.
Aidan, thanks for staying up so late to join us.

1. I'd like to start with a broad question -- your reaction to the decision to hold the third summit between these two leaders... in Pyongyang in September.

2. In terms of what's likely to be on the table during the talks. What do you expect them to focus on and what do you foresee coming out in a joint statement?

3. The United States is going to be watching this summit very carefully. You could argue that denuclearization is not at the top of President Moon's agenda when it comes to North Korea, but he understands there has to be some progress on this issue for the U.S. to even consider lifting sanctions on the North. Do you think President Moon will be able to talk Kim into giving Washington what it wants -- a detailed report on its nuclear stockpile and a timeline for abandoning its nukes?

Well, that's where we have to leave it. Great to have you with us this morning and thanks for sharing your insights. That was Korea expert Aidan Foster-Carter on the upcoming Moon-Kim summit set for September in Pyongyang. Thank you.
