House washed away by floods in the Philippines
  • 6 years ago
This is the dramatic moment a wooden home was dragged into a flooded river and washed away during floods in the village of Montalban in Rizal province, Philippines on August 12.

The Nipa hut - a type of stilt house indigenous to the cultures of the Philippines - had been on the same spot for several decades.

But after heavy rains over the last few days, the river below had turned into a raging torrent which broke through a concrete wall, causing the ground that the home was on to collapse.

The Philippines capital region Metro Manila is currently on red alert as thousands evacuated their homes because of flooding over the weekend.

Tropical Storm Karding (Yagi) alreadt left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday morning, August 11, but the steady flow of rain continued because of the southwest monsoon until August 13.
