Heatwave warning issued for most of Korea; tropical storm Jongdari hits Japan
  • 6 years ago
Heatwave warnings were issued nationwide today except for Korea's east coast... and the hot weather is forecast to continue throughout the week.
Sunday's high in the capital city of Seoul reached 37 degrees Celsius.
By Monday, though, Korea's southern island of Jeju could be under the influence of tropical storm Jongdari ... which as of 3PM Korea time was downgraded from a typhoon.
The Korea Meteorological Administration says that it could develop into a typhoon again once it moves out over the sea.
Its strong winds and torrential rains have already led to injuries to at least 16 people in Japan.
Roofs were blown off, crushing nearby cars and utility poles were damaged.
Also, some 56-thousand households experienced power outages... and around 42-thousand flights were delayed over the weekend.
