Partially Blind Man in Minion Costume Attacked in Daytona Beach

A partially blind and mentally handicapped man dressed as a Minion – a character from the movie “Despicable Me” – was attacked outside a store in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Sunday, July 8, according to police.A suspect was arrested after the store owner and another man rushed to the scene and pinned him to the ground, police said. He was charged with criminal mischief and battery.This security video shows the suspect, 25-year-old Ryan Nihart, picking up the man in the costume, Jamie Roehm, spinning him around, and then throwing him the ground. Roehm then manages to get to his feet, but Nihart then kicks him, knocking him down a second time.Nihart was encouraged by two people, police said. The footage shows Roehm being approached by three individuals, including Nihart, moments before the attack occurs. One of the other people appears to be filming the incident on a cellphone, while smiling.Fox35 reported that Roehm was backed at work the next day, citing him as saying: “This is my favorite part of the job, it’s to come in here and make the kids happy. Nihart is heard identifying himself as “Bouje Ratchet”, and says he is an “Instagram star” who attacked Roehm as a prank.After his arrest, Nihart shared a video to YouTube mocking media coverage, and saying he only attacked Roehm to entertain his followers. “How was I supposed to know?” Nihart says. “I thought I had the Minion’s consent,” he adds, sarcastically.
