Indian forest officials rescued an elephant calf hours after it fell into a ditch. The female calf was found by villagers in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The villagers heard the anguished cries of the female elephant. They informed the local forest department who rushed to the spot to rescue the animal. The rescuers dug a hole around the calf manually before bringing a JCB digger to the site.
