At least 50 people are dead after torrential rain lashed Japan, forecast to continue until July 8.These videos show the aftermath of the heavy rain and mudslides in Gero, Gifu. Japan’s meteorological authority warned of “loosening ground,” heavy rain and flooding on July 8.Kaori Kotani, who is visiting family in Gero, shared these videos and photos. She said her brother advised her family to escape to a shelter at 3 am on July 8, fearing a mudslide would hit the mountainous region.“We stayed shelter until 9:30 am. Still not stop rain that time, but already turned light rain,” Kotani said. “When I back to home, I watched many of places mudslide.”An emergency warning is still in place for Gifu, while Nagasaki, Saga, Fukuoka, Tottori, Hiroshima, Okayama, Hyogo and Kyoto prefecture warnings have been lifted.According to The Mainichi the country’s inclement weather caused the death of 50, with another 50 missing.
