Trump extends sanctions on North Korea by another year, despite recent thaw in relation
  • 6 years ago
Despite the improving relations between North Korea and the U.S.... President Donald Trump has extended economic sanctions against North Korea for another year,... saying its nuclear weapons threat is "unusual and extraordinary."
Trump notified Congress of his decision on Friday.
The White House has extended the sanctions every year, since they were first imposed in 2008.
This comes in contrast to President Trump's previous remarks on Twitter, when he declared there's no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea after he met with Kim Jong-un in Singapore for their historic summit.
