A lava fountain that emerged from the Kilauea volcano’s Fissure 8 shrank in size overnight on June 4 and 5, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.Lava ejected from the fissure had previously been recorded rising 260 feet above the ground but fluctuated between 100 and 160 feet over Tuesday evening. As of the morning of June 5, the lava flow that had emerged from Fissure 8 had completely filled Kapoho Bay. Credit: US Geological Survey (USGS) via Storyful
