'The Most Famous Car in the World' - James Bond's Original Aston Martin DB5

'The Most Famous Car in the World' accurately sums it up; the only surviving original Aston Martin DB5 as used in the James Bond movies. In these scenes and walkaround of the car you can see the button for the ejector seat, the system for the scrolling number plates and take in the history of this incredibly special car. The car will be at auction by RM, October 27th 2010 and is expected to reach a value in excess of £3.5 million.

"James Bond Original Aston Martin DB5
"There were two; now there is only one: the real James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5 which was introduced in Goldfinger, equipped with its fascinating gadgets and lethal weaponry. Also known as 'The Most Famous Car in the World,' this film icon (FMP 7B) was one of two DB5s, which appeared on screen in Goldfinger and Thunderball. Intended at first for use in the 'fast driving' scenes in Goldfinger, it was retrofitted and fully equipped to '007 specification' by Aston Martin for Thunderball.
"Meanwhile, the other car, after having its studio effects removed by Aston Martin and discarded, was sold in the late 60s as a 'used car.' Later equipped with replica gadgets by a subsequent owner, it was famously reported stolen in 1997 from its storage in a Boca Raton airplane hangar. Subject to a thorough international investigation and a reported $4m insurance settlement, its whereabouts remain a mystery and it is believed by many to have been destroyed.
"Therefore FMP 7B is the only known remaining of the two original cars, and was itself on display here in the Rotunda at The Royal Automobile Club in 1969. Today it is offered just as it last appeared in these premises, fresh from its first and only ex-factory owner; in original condition with 30,000 miles on the clock, and all its gadgets intact. During the interim the DB5 was stored in a special room in the original owner's home, and only recently extracted and carefully re-commissioned to roadworthiness.
"FMP 7B is available for sale for the first time since 1969 and the first time ever to the public. It will headline the RM Auctions 'Automobiles of London' annual sale at Battersea Evolution, in association with Sotheby's, on the evening of October 27, 2010, where it is expected to achieve a value in excess of £3.5m GBP."
