Mercedes have taken the roof off the AMG GT R with the release of the brand new GT R Roadster! As a limited edition of just 750 units, it matches the aspects of the Coupe that make it so epic with an open top roof experience. Let's take a very first ever look at the brand new car during the Meet Mercedes preview event at the 2019 Geneva Motorshow.

It may not make sense to take away the roof from a car with the dynamic prowess of the AMG GT R; but you can be sure the demand for these 750 cars is going to be high. With the GT R covering so many bases as a car that's incredible to drive with the 4.0l Biturbo V8, loaded with technology in the new facelift, and such a stunning looker as well, you can see how this has come about. The car presented at the event is shown in Blue Magno with Macchiato Beige for the interior with the AMG Performance Seats.

After such a fantastic 15 months so far with my AMG GT R Coupe, and hoping for an allocation of a GT R Pro to come as well; given the 30,000km I've driven in a year I'd be exceedingly keen to add a GT R Roadster to the car collection as well - let's see if that's possible!
