Sudden collapse of three-storey building caught on camera - Kolhapur, Maharashtra

A three storey building suddenly fell over and collapsed within seconds in Kolhapur in India's state of Maharashtra. Fortunately though, there were no casualties.

The five-year-old building in Kolhapur's Shaniwar Peth collapsed due to excessive excavation carried out by a builder next to the existing structure.

The builder Karan Mane was given permission to excavate 1.2 metre depth for the base of a 5,000 square metres building, according to civic officials.

But the unscrupulous builder excavated over 4 metres underground and over five feet under the base of the existing building, leading to the collapse.
