David Copperfield accused of assaulting teen model after plea not to be judged

American magician David Copperfield has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old model in 1988.
Brittney Lewis came forward with the allegations on Wednesday, just hours after Copperfield expressed support for the #MeToo movement, while warning against rushing to judgment about allegations of sexual misconduct.
She claimed the magician invited her to one of his California shows after judging a modeling contest which she was competing in.
Copperfield's statement on Instagram suggests he may have been aware that Lewis was about to go public with her allegations.
He said he had been falsely accused in 2007 and was having to "weather another storm."
