National Girl Child Day is being observed in India on Wednesday. It is celebrated with an aim to raise awareness about sex ratio levels and promote the empowerment of girls. According to the survey, about 79 per cent of women aged 15 to 49 and 78 per cent of men in the 15-54 age group in India want to have at least one daughter.
