Sao Paulo 1988, the first rap compilations of Brazilian rap/hip-hop were launched by first generation of Brazilian rappers - Thaide & DJ Hum, Racionais MCs, Os Metralhas, NDee Rap.
This same year, a kid in north side of Sao Paulo was born who 22 years later produced his first Brazilian rap hit with a suggestive title "Hora de acordar" (Time to wake up).
Times goes by (and fast!). Michel Costa a.k.a. Rashid won important local MC battles in 2007 and 2008, produced four albuns, launched several videos, nominated to MTV Video Music Brazil Awards 2012 as Best New Artist and Hit of the Year with "Quero Ver Segurar", worked on his own clothing brand "Focus on the Mission", done hundreds of performances including SXSW Austin, Texas, in 2014 and 2015.
Rashid could be a mix of Jay-Z and Damon Dash. Influencied by American rap Rakim, Nas, Jay-Z, Talib Kweli and Brazilian roots, Rashid is an Arabic name meaning "fair" and "honest". 'A Coragem da Luz' first album (2016) has Mano Brown, Criolo, Alexandre Carlo*Natiruts, Max de Castro.
More than one million on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, hits on YouTube, Rashid is from the new rap generation - MCs Emicida, Criolo, Karol Conká, Rael - who diversified rap on their mission to make Brazilian hip hop bigger and international.
