Protesters Clash Outside Milo Yiannopoulos Event in Melbourne

Violence broke out between protesters outside an event where controversial right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak on in Melbourne, Australia, on December 4, according to news reports.Nine News reported that police used pepper spray to subdue a number of people as around 100 anti-fascist protesters from Campaign Against Racism and Fascism faced off against around 30 far-right supporters from Reclaim Australia and the True Blue Crew.Footage uploaded by Whistleblowers, Activists and Citizens Alliance, a local activist group, shows a heavy police presence outside the event. Some protesters can be heard chanting and shouting at attendees as they entered the building.Other footage posted to social media shows violence breaking out outside the event.Yiannopoulos’s sold-out Melbourne talk was part of his speaking tour in Australia, which began in Adelaide on Friday.
