Police in New York removed protesters calling on Congress to replace the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program from the route of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on Thursday, November 23.Video footage shared by the campaign group Cosecha on Facebook shows the moment NYPD officers forced the four protesters to leave the road at Central Park West at 70th Street, New York Daily News reported. Other protesters could be heard chanting “Undocumented, unafraid” from the side of the road as the group were removed. Cosecha livestreamed the protest on Facebook on behalf of fellow campaigners The Seed Project. The four protesters were not arrested, ABC reported. At least one of the protesters was a so-called Dreamer, a person who entered the US as a minor and are now undocumented, according to ABC.DACA campaigners are protesting President Donald Trump’s decision to end the Obama-era program that protected around 800,000 former child migrants from deportation and allowed them to work and study. Trump announced in September the end of the program would be delayed until March 2018 and called for Congress to “legalize DACA”. Credit: Facebook/Cosecha via Storyful
