Papua New Guinea’s Supreme Court rejected an application to restore power, water and medical services to the Manus Island detention center on November 7, ABC reported.Ahead of the decision, refugees at the center recorded a video asking for basic services to be restored, and called on the international community to recognize the situation as a humanitarian crisis. The center closed permanently on October 31, with 600 men ordered to leave the premises. One of the refugees at the center, Behrouz Boochani, had sought an injunction ordering the restoration of power, water and food supplies after they were cut off. Boochani responded to the court ruling by reaffirming the commitment of the detainees to remain on the island. Credit: Manus Alert via Storyful
