Obama Jokes During Speech: 'I Was Born In Kenya'

Barack Obama delivered an address at the Obama Foundation’s first summit and cracked a joke about his birthplace.

Former President Barack Obama delivered an address at the Obama Foundation's first summit, held in Chicago, and loosened up the crowd by cracking a joke about his birthplace.
"The reason I'm so excited to see you all here today, in part, is because this is where I started. Now, this isn't where I was born. I was born in Kenya," Obama told those gathered.
After the laughter died down, he continued, "That's a joke. I was born in Hawaii."
The Kenya mention is, of course, a reference to the birther movement, which asserted that Obama was not a legitimate president because he was born in another country.
Donald Trump was among that theory's most vocal proponents, notes CNN.
Though he appears to have abandoned that belief in September 2016, admitting Obama was, indeed, born on U.S. soil, he has moved on to other means of casting aspersions upon his predecessor.
They include suggesting that Obama had Trump Tower "wiretapped" during the 2016 campaign and, during his tenure, didn't make calls to the families of slain soldiers.
