Rescue Elephants Carry Hundreds To Safety In Nepal Flood

by Andrew CaringiAs floods ravage Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, a group of elephants braved the waters to rescue people stranded at a jungle safari park. They were brought in from the nearby Chitwan National Park in Nepal and carried hundreds to safety.Tragically, however, at least 175 people have reportedly died in the flooding. In Nepal, more than 48,000 homes have been submerged, and ruining up to 80 percent of the crops. Nepal’s Red Cross warns that shortages of drinking water and food could create a massive humanitarian crisis for up to 29 million people.Sadly, it will take more than heroic elephants to undo the damage done.
