Turkish President Erdogan Visits Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in Attempt to Diffuse Gulf Crisis

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Kuwait Emiri Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Cabir es-Sabah on July 23, as part of a trip aimed at helping to resolve the dispute between Qatar and four other Arab states.The meeting at Dar Salwa Palace followed separate meetings earlier that day with King Salman and with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia.Turkey is an ally of Qatar and has backed it in the crisis. Kuwait is the main mediator in the crisis.On June 5, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt cut ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism. Doha has denied the claim.
