Evacuations Ordered as Firefighters Work to Contain Detwiler Fire Near Yosemite

Numerous evacuation orders were in place on Tuesday, July 18, as fire officials worked to contain the Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County, northern California.Cal Fire reported early Tuesday afternoon that the fire was spread across 15,500 acres and was just five percent contained, while 300 structures remained under threat. One structure had already been destroyed and around 780 personnel from 22 fire crews were working against the blaze, the report said.This video was shared by the sheriff’s office of the neighboring Merced County, which said firefighters were lighting backfires to try to control the spread of the fire.
