HUDSON COUNTY, NEW JERSEY — An officer in Hudson County, New Jersey is hoping to hang onto her badge after being outed for previously serving as a dominatrix in a series of bondage films.

From 2008 to 2012, Kristen Hyman, 30, used to star as Domina Nyx Blake, a sexual sadist who punished kinky men in all sorts of ways. In an interview with the New York Post on June 17, Hyman details her struggles as a low-level actor at the time, and insists she did it to make a living and explore acting in a fun, safe way. She also claims to have never performed sex acts or displayed full nudity in her films.

Hyman eventually decided to pursue her other long-term passions in public service. After years as a 911 operator and being trained as an EMT, she worked to become a police officer. However, a mere six days before graduating from the police academy, an anonymous tip came in about Hyman’s frowned-upon past, and she was suspended without pay.

The Sheriff’s Office reportedly claims Hyman embarrassment to the uniform, and her taking an oath of office would compromise the department’s integrity. They also claim she lied on her job applications. Her lawyer refutes that claim, saying Hyman was previously a model, a photographer, and an actress. A judge agreed, reinstating her to the academy so she could graduate.

An administrative hearing will be held on June 22 to determine whether Hyman should be allowed to resume her new job as an officer of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.
