CANADIAN COUNTY, OKLAHOMA — A Canadian County Deputy was in the right place at the right time last week when he used his baton to rescue a man from snarling pit bulls.

The victim was running away from two pit bulls last Friday afternoon, reported KFOR News Channel 4 NBC, citing the El Reno Tribune. He was running backwards and using his jacket to fend of the dogs.

Deputy Barrett Storm saw what was going on and pulled up in his patrol car to help the man, reported KOCO News 5. Quickly, both got onto the hood of the car.

Storm banged on his car with his baton to keep the pit bulls’ attention and stop them from running off. He kept at this until animal control showed up and tasered the beasts.

Storm explained that he didn’t fire his weapon because a school was nearby and it was nearly 3 p.m., when students would be let out from classes.

The dogs’ owners were reportedly cited for letting their pets run free without supervision.
