The Orange County Sheriff’s Office held a remembrance ceremony for the 49 victims of the Pulse Nightclub attack on Monday, June 12, one year after hundreds of Orange County police officers faced the deadliest mass shooting in US history.“Today is an emotional day for many of us because it takes us back to a point in time one year ago,” said Sheriff Jerry Demings at the remembrance ceremony. “Our deputies were part of the response to the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States of America and I’m proud of the courage they displayed.”The attack at the gay nightclub one year ago left 49 dead and 53 injured. At the remembrance ceremony, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office held 49 seconds of silence for the victims and laid a wreath with the colors of the LGBT flag.
