Family Watches Wilmington Island Tornado from Restaurant

A family watched a funnel cloud over Wilmington Island, Georgia, on Tuesday, May 23. A meteorologist retweeted by the National Weather Service out of Charleston called it a confirmed tornado.A family watched from A-J’s Dockside Rest, located on the Back River of Tybee Island. Emily Jefcoat, who took this video, can be heard telling her daughter, “Please don’t dump your sister in the water” as they watched the funnel.Severe storms were forecast early to hit Wilmington Island, near Savannah. A flash flood warning was in effect for most of Tuesday.
