A group of black-clad journalists gathered at Aguascalientes’ Plaza de la Patria on May 16 to hold a memorial for award-winning journalist Javier Valdez, who was killed the day before.Valdez was fatally shot in Culiacan, in the northwest Mexican state of Sinaloa on Monday. He was the sixth journalist killed in Mexico in 2017, according to El Pais.Protesters and journalists across Mexico rallied on Monday against the violence journalists in the country face.
