United Airlines said they will offer $10,000 to those who are willing to give up their seats on overbooked flights on Thursday. They announced the offer after rival airline Delta said they would give passengers $9,950 to leave their seats. United also stated that they will “reduce incidents of involuntary denial of boarding to as close to zero as possible and become a more customer-focused airline.” Oscar Munoz, Chief Executive at United, said that the airline is taking “concrete, meaningful action” to improve customer satisfaction. The offer comes two weeks after passenger David Dao was dragged from his seat aboard an overbooked United flight on April 9.
