The United States and North Korea may face a nuclear standoff, according to a Chinese diplomat. Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned the U.S. against deploying a missile defense system in North Korea, which China greatly opposes. Yi also condemned the nuclear arms program in North Korea, after Pyongyang tested four missiles a few days ago. "The two sides are like two accelerating trains coming towards each other...The question is, are the two sides really ready for a head-on collision?" Yi told reporters. Yi proposed that the U.S. and South Korea put a halt on their joint military efforts, in exchange for North Korea suspending its nuclear program.
