Six Chinese fishermen were air-lifted to safety on Monday after their fishing vessel ran on rocks earlier in the day in the East China Sea.

A search and rescue helicopter from east China's Fujian Province has to be dispatched in the place of a search and rescue ship as the sea was too tough some 170 kilometers from coast around the rocks.

The search and rescue helicopter took off soon after dawn had broken.

It took the rescue crew 18 minutes to pulley up all six fishermen and then transferred them to safety on land. The fishermen were picked up by their fishing company from the same Fujian Province.
