Fisherman charged with torture and slavery offences against deckhands

A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with 46 offences following an investigation into allegations of assaulting and torturing numerous deckhands aboard his fishing vessels in remote Far North Queensland.

00:20 Multiple counts of servitude, torture, assault, causing bodily harm,

00:24 common assault, stealing, rape and fraud.

00:27 Abused, they were assaulted, they were forced to work without wages,

00:33 they were forced to sleep on the deck, open deck of the boat.

00:36 Some of those complainants were in such fear of their lives and well-being

00:39 that they actually died from those boats and swam through crocodile and shark

00:43 inhabited waters to the mainland to get off the boat.
