Since the US Supreme Court ruling in June 2015, people in same-sex relationships were able to breathe a sigh of relief. While there are still those that don’t believe in the right to marriage equality, places like the United States, Canada and Europe are certainly more accepting than others. While there are homophobic people in every nation and every country in the world, there are others that outright ban it and a homosexual lifestyle can lead to prison or even death. Outdated laws, religious belief and fear have led these countries to hold on to their old World views of homosexuality. LGBT people can be face discrimination, imprisonment, job loss, fines, public humiliation, sexual assault and even death depending on where they are. There are still more than seventy countries where homosexual relationships are still against the law !
