My name is Loren Hutchins,
One of my favorite Seoul’s attractions is Deoksugung Palace.
This is because among the palaces in Seoul, you can discover the most various types and styles of architecture here.
In front of Deoksugung’s main gate, Daehanmun, special ceremony is reenacted every day.
It’s called the ‘Changing of the Royal Guard Ceremony. ‘
It’s quite an interesting sight, especially for foreigners
Since long ago, the ceremony of changing the Royal Guards who protected the palace – is one of the very traditional Korean scenes you can experience
in Seoul.
Once you step into Daehanmun Gate, the past presents itself right in front of your eyes.
You are first greeted by Junghwajeon, situated in the center of Deoksugung that boasts traditional palace architecture.
Long time ago, the Kings of this country made the most important decisions in this exact place.
Right next to Junghwajeon, you might notice an exotic building called Seokjojeon.
Seokjojeon, fascinating visitors with its fancy and sophisticated interior.
At the end of the 19th century, a British architecture designed the building with Greek style architecture and used granite in accordance to the worldwide ‘modernization’ phenomenon.
The nightfall of Deoksugung washes up gently unlike the city scenery.
Deoksugung, frozen in time in the photo, holds its own unique romance.
Deoksugung, where the past and present, the East and the West coexist, awaits for its next time traveler.
