Legal weed is hurting the beer business

Legalized marijuana has officially started to impact the beer industry says research firm Cowen & Company. The firm analyzed the beer industry in Oregon, Colorado, and Washington where recreational weed is legalized and craft beer has become popular. Beer in those states have "collectively underperformed" over the past two years and the 2016 numbers were worse than the 2015 numbers. Larger, domestic brewers have experienced a larger drop, with companies like Anheuser Busch-InBev and MillerCoors have seen sales volume of Coors Light and Bud Light drop 4.4 percent. The trend is more sever among 18-25 year-olds, many of whom are using more cannabis and drinking less alcohol.
