A Texas police officer has been commended for his efforts to save a young boy’s life, reports ABC News.
On October 12, Officer Chase Miller with the Granbury Police Department responded to a 911 call from a man who reported that his son was not breathing, notes Star-Telegram.
Dashcam video posted online shows the officer taking the limp child from a crying woman later identified as his mother, 21-year-old Bethany Hoover, who worked at the Kentucky Fried Chicken where the emergency was happening.
According to KXAS, Officer Miller performed CPR on the three year-old, Brayden Geis, leaving only briefly to retrieve a breathing mask. While he was away, the boy’s father, John, took over the chest compressions. Soon, Brayden started to breathe on his own.
The toddler has reportedly since recovered, with his mother saying that the reason for the medical emergency was a cold-related fever which spiked and caused a seizure.
Officer Miller was recently recognized by city officials for saving the child’s life.
