Former French President in hospital with lung infection

Former French President Jacques Chirac has been repatriated from Morocco to be treated for an acute lung infection.

The 83-year-old former head of state “will remain in hospital for the next few days”, his son-in-law Frederic Salat-Baroux told the French news agency, AFP.

Chirac is reportedly being treated at the La Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital in Paris.

It is understood he will remain in hospital for the next few days.
