Sony's horror entry Don't Breathe closed out summer 2016 in high style, earning $19.6 million from 3,051 theaters over the long Labor Day weekend, With its tiny budget of $9.9 million, Don't Breathe easily outpaced an underperforming pack with its tale of three friends who try to rob a blind man full of unexpected vengeance.
Warner Bros. fifth weekend of “Suicide Squad” showed impressive staying power in second place with about $13.6 million for the weekend — enough for the supervillain tentpole to top the $300 million mark on Monday.
