Leopards have lost most of their territory, as they now occupy only 25 to 37 percent of their historic range, according to a new study The study notes that leopards still own most of their territory in parts of Africa and India but they’re declining in West and North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and China Their range dropped from the historic high of 13.5 million square miles to just 3.3 million square miles Due to the findings, the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s cat specialist division suggested leopards be reclassified as Red List animals
