The DEA quietly unveiled that it plans to decide within the next three months whether marijuana should be removed from the list of Schedule I controlled substances, what the US government considers to be the most dangerous class of drugs 23 states and Washington, D.C. now allow some form of medical marijuana but its still classified the same as heroin, LSD, ecstasy, and other drugs believed to have no medical use and a high potential for abuse
