She is the daughter of Neil D’ Souza and Jeanete D’ Souza, and has a brother Nigel.
Genelia married actor Ritesh Deshmukh, son of politician Vilasrao Deshmukh in 2012.
She started modeling at the age of 15 and gained huge popularity with the Parker Pen advertisement with actor Amitabh Bachchan.
Genelia made her debut in year 2003, in a film Tujhe Meri Kasam and went on to act in many films like mere Baap Pehle Aap, Masti, Force, Life Partner, and many other films.
